Throw the Goggles Away!
When it comes to eyelash extension care nothing is more important than proper cleaning and care.
I have seen a lot of articles and comments where lashionistas have reported wearing goggles in the shower or while washing their face. Yikes!
Wearing goggles prevents effective cleaning and rinsing of the eyelid and lash line. The build up of oil, makeup, and sweat creates the perfect breeding environment for bacteria. To minimize the risk of infection and premature lash loss while wearing eyelash extensions a two prong lash care approach is key:
1) Remove makeup daily – Pre-saturated cleansing pads remove makeup like eyeliner, mascara, concealer, foundation, and eyeshadow. I recommend The Lashe oil free cleansing pads for gentle effective cleansing. For my NovaLash wearers nothing beats NovaLash pomegranate seed infused 3-n-1 cleanLash pads, makeup removal, cleaning and conditioning all in one.
2) Deep clean and rinse – I recommend the Thera-Tears SteriLid Eyelid Cleanser. A rich foamy cleanser SteriLid is a hypoallergenic, pH balanced cleanser enriched with Tea Tree oil. One pump of foam on clean finger tips, gently massaged into lash line and rinsed with water, eyelashes and lids are thoroughly cleaned and refreshed.
For a more clinical approach I recommend Avenova by NovaBay Pharmacueticals. By prescription only, ask your doctor about the benefits of Avenova for eyelash extension hygiene.
